The Magpies play their final home game of the season on Sunday at 5.30pm, live on Sky Sports.

With two games left, the Hammers sit third bottom of the table, two points behind a Spurs side who don't return to action until the following Tuesday.

In other words, Nuno Espirito Santo's Hammers cannot be relegated at Gallowgate, regardless of the final score.

Hat sellers Football Bobbles will have a stall outside the Trent House pub from 2.30pm. Card payments accepted.

Team:
Lewis Miley, Valentino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Fabian Schar remain out due to fitness issues, while Joelinton is doubtful. Lewis Hall is available.

Nick Woltemade will complete a half century of league and cup appearances for Newcastle if he features in this game.

Should he keep his place in the line-up, Jacob Murphy will make his 150th start in all competitions as a Magpie.

Coral rate this game as follows:

NUFC win 1/1
The draw 14/5
WHUFC win 12/5

WHUFC: Lukasz Fabianski misses out but Adama Traore could return.

Former Magpie Callum Wilson has scored six times in the Premier League so far this season for the Hammers, five goals more than current Magpie Yoane Wissa.

West Ham's current away record mirrors Newcastle's away from SJP, with four wins, five draws and nine losses.

Their victories came at Nottingham Forest, Spurs, Burnley and Fulham but since the most recent of those, they've failed to score in any of their three games on the road.

Referee: Jarred Gillett - third appointment in the middle involving Newcastle this season, following the 1-2 home defeat by Arsenal and 0-2 loss to Aston Villa at SJP.

Update:
Tigers v Saints

The race to join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in next season's Premier League continues with the two sides who will contest the Championship playoff final now confirmed.

Hull City secured their place with a 2-0 win at Millwall on Monday after a scoreless first leg, 24 hours before a 2-1 home success for Southampton over Boro in extra time - again coming after the first leg had ended 0-0.

The Tigers will face the Saints at Wembley Stadium on Saturday May 23rd, unless their punishment for the ongoing EFL charge over alleged spying alters either the teams competing, the match date - or perhaps both.

2026/27:
Pre-season whispers

Update: Unconfirmed claims have surfaced on Everton fansites of a pre-season fixture for the Toffees against Newcastle at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium.

This isn't the first time that a Magpie visit to the home of Scottish rugby has been mentioned, similar claims emerging ahead of two recent seasons but no fixture arranged.

Manchester United played friendly matches at Murrayfield ahead of both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 PL seasons.

Earlier: With plans for long haul warm-up games abandoned, the focus has turned to whereabouts in Europe Newcastle will be preparing for their 2026/27 PL season.

After previous talk of Austria and Portugal, The Mail report that a training camp is planned at the Spanish resort of La Manga, with one associated friendly fixture.

The Chronicle meanwhile claim that Serie A side AS Roma have been invited to play at Gallowgate.

Update:
Munchen, glad Mag?

Speculation regarding the transfer of Anthony Gordon to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich continues, amid claims that talks over a fee continue with broad agreement over personal terms and contract duration reached.

The 25 year-old England international last featured for Newcastle in the defeat at Crystal Palace a month ago, before missing two games due to an alleged injury.

Gordon then returned to the squad but wasn't called from the bench against Brighton or Nottingham Forest. Whether he'll add to his 152 league and cup appearances against West Ham or Fulham remains to be seen.

Odysseas Vlachodimos (Seville):
Seville enhanced their chances of avoiding relegation from La Liga by coming back from 0-2 down to win 3-2 at Villarreal on Wednesday. The on-loan Magpie continued in goal.

Boro's hopes of reaching the Championship promotion playoff final perished with a 1-2
semi-final loss at Southampton on Tuesday night after a scoreless first leg on Teesside.

Matt made the 45th and final appearance of his Boro loan spell this season, completing the full 120 minutes as the tie was decided in extra time.

Harrison Ashby/Joe White (Bradford City):

Neither Magpie featured on Thursday as a 0-1 home loss at the hands of Bolton Wanderers saw the Trotters advance to the League One promotion playoff final at Wembley.

Match report

Update:
Toon set for Swiss test

Newcastle will compete at the International U19 football tournament, an eight team event hosted in the Swiss town of Altstatten this coming Friday and Saturday.

United's maiden entry into the tournament that was first staged in 1998 sees them in Group A alongside Croatians Dinamo Zagreb, Danes Brondby and Swiss side St. Gallen.

They'll play all three sides on Friday in games of 2 x 20 minute halves ahead of Saturday's knockout fixtures.

U18s:
Boro blitzed

Boro U18s  0  Newcastle U18s  4

Four second half strikes gave Newcastle U18s their biggest away win of the season in their final game on Saturday.

The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes at a damp Hurworth training ground was when United's Matheos Ferreira shot against the post just before the break.

That all changed nine minutes after the restart when Alfie Seldon fired home and after Michael Mills netted, Seldon struck again to increase his seasonal tally to nine.

Substitute Aaron Epia then made it 4-0, rounding off a fourth successive win for the Magpies and a season that saw them record their
best U18 league placing and points per game return since 2011/12.

Team:
Holland, Old (Taylor 75), Goodbrand (Epia 46), Moran (Gilligan 46), Johnson, M.Miley, Ferreira, O'Donovan, Mills, Koussou, Seldon (Wooster 75). Sub n/u: Flack.

Goals: Seldon 54,71, Mills 67, Epia 82

ST waiting list details

NUFC confirm that a season ticket waiting list will open up ahead of next season, with a minimum of 250 available.

Entry to the waiting list is restricted to club members, who can sign up between Mon 18.05.2026 and Sun 31.05.2026.

A ballot will then take place with entrants placed in priority groups according to criteria set by the club. Ballot winners can then purchase season tickets from Wed 10.06.2026.

While the purchase of a 2026/27 membership isn't required to join the waiting list, anyone who doesn't win this ballot would need to continue paying for membership in order to maintain their place in the queue for future ST releases.

While the minimum figure of 250 for this year is set, there's no mention of how many STs will be offered thereafter.

Come on Rory:
Midfielder promoted

Update: Tuesday saw Rory start for Ireland in a 2-0 win over Real Murcia B as part of their training camp.

Following the withdrawal of several players, Newcastle's teenage midfielder Rory Finneran has received a senior call-up from Ireland for a training camp and game in Spain.

The 18 year-old broke into United's U21 squad this season and has been capped by the Irish up to U19 level, but has leapfrogged the U21s to join the senior party in Murcia.

Following the training camp, Heimir Hallgrimsson's side face Grenada at the home of Real Murcia this Saturday.

PS: possible club participation means that Irish players with Premier League clubs including Newcastle's Alex Murphy weren't considered for the Murcia trip.

However the 21 year-old defender could be involved when Ireland play post-season games against Qatar and Canada.

Update:
Friends reunited

The latest backroom staff arrival at Gallowgate is predicted to be James Fowler, who is leaving his position as head of Academy scouting at Rangers for a role within Newcastle's European youth recruitment department.

45 year-old Fowler previously assisted current Magpie Head of Football Strategy Jack Ross when he managed St.Mirren and the pair also took charge of the mackems in 2018.

Fowler wasn't in post at Ibrox however at the same time as current Toon Sporting Director Ross Wilson, as has been claimed by some outlets.

Meanwhile, it's reported that Newcastle have added Oxford United's head of recruitment Scott Mitchell to their staff.

40 year-old Mitchell will strengthen the staff responsible for identifying additions to the club's development squads.

Update:
Sho stopper

The i newspaper report that Shola Ameobi will leave his current role as Newcastle United's loan manager, switching to an ambassadorial/corporate position at the club.

They claim that a replacement is yet to be recruited but that current assistant loan manager Peter Ramage is to remain in post.

Taking up the so-called "loan arranger" post during 2019, Ameobi latterly headed up a team of six staff responsible for those players making temporary departures from the club.

ST holders have 24 hours to apply, 24 hours to determine success, 48 hours to buy.

Success is based on the loyalty point total calculated from applications received. Any applications from ST holders with less points are entered into a ballot, which will have taken place before tickets go on sale.

Regardless of the loyalty point level a game sells out at, to purchase a ticket you must have applied in the initial 24 hour window.

The initial purchase window is divided into two sections determined by a loyalty point division that alters for each game - those successful applicants above that point division usually get two hours head start.

NB: emails from NUFC confirming success may arrive after the purchase window opens - if you think you qualify due to your points total, log on and complete your purchase.

Tickets not bought by successful applicants are then offered to unsuccessful applicants with a reduced loyalty points total - new applications cannot be made at this time.

Only those within the new loyalty point total are eligible to buy - even if you had more, your purchase window has already closed.

PL away ticket prices will remain unchanged at £30 for both 2026/27 and 2027/28.

What's this all about then? Click here
for a rambling explanation of sorts....

On This Day in History
15th May

Born Or Died:

1933 Richard Matthewson "Dick" Keith born, Belfast. (1956-64)

Northern Ireland international full back signed from Linfield in September 1956 for £9,000, as United sought to replace the injured Bobby Cowell.

Making an immediate debut in a 1-1 home draw with Manchester United, Dick's full back partnership with fellow Ulsterman Alf McMichael served club and country well.

After five seasons playing the top-flight, United dropped into Division Two and Keith remained at Gallowgate, serving as club captain under new manager Joe Harvey.

What proved to be Dick's final appearance came in a 2-5 loss at Portsmouth during October 1963, with understudy Bill McKinney preferred until the emergence of David Craig from the youth ranks.

Joining Bournemouth at a cost of £3,300 in February 1964, Keith moved on non-league Weymouth two years later.

Dick tragically died aged just 33, fracturing his skull in an accident at a Bournemouth builder's yard in February 1967.

United then visited Dean Court three months later to take part in a benefit game to raise funds for his family.

1989 Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa born, Bangui, Central African Republic. (2013-15)

Central defender brought up in the Marseille area who joined Montpellier's youth Academy in 2005, debuting for the French League side two years later.

Yanga-Mbiwa first appeared for France at U21 level in November 2009 against Tunisia and was included in a provisional senior team selection ahead of Euro 2012.

Omitted from the final squad, Mapou's full international debut came in a 0-0 friendly draw with Uruguay during August 2012, in a back four that also included fellow future Magpie, Mathieu Debuchy.

Leading Montpellier to the League title in the 2011/12 season, he was first linked with a move to SJP in August 2012, completing a claimed £6.7m switch the following January.

Debuting off the bench in the closing stages of a vital 2-1 win at Aston Villa, Mapou found himself pressed into service as an emergency central midfielder.

A first start at right back in the scoreless home draw with Metalist Kharkiv, was then followed by a return to his more usual central defensive role later in the month, following an injury to Fabricio Coloccini.

The return of Colo to fitness in May 2013 then saw him recalled and Yanga deputise at left back for Davide Santon and Massadio Haidara at West Ham.

He made 23 league appearances (six from the bench) plus three cup starts in the 2013/14 season and was sent off in the home game against Liverpool for a clumsy challenge on Luis Suarez.

Despite amassing the most pitch time in friendly matches ahead of the 2014/15 season (and scoring against Sydney in Dunedin), strong rumours of a loan departure persisted.

A return to France looked likely, but instead a deadline day deal saw him move to Serie A side AS Roma on a season-long loan with the contingency of a permanent deal.

And it didn't take Yanga long to criticise the physicality of the Premier League and his unhappiness with being played at right back by Alan Pardew - labelling his move from Montpellier to United "a mistake".

The Roma loan was made permanent in January 2015 after triggering a clause contained in the agreement.

However, Yanga was sold to Lyon that August, where he became a regular starter in his first two seasons and helped them to a runners-up spot in 2016.

From that point though, things unravelled for him and he drifted out of the first team before his contract ended in July 2020.

Despite occasional bench duty and no apparent fitness issues, the nearest Mapou had come to a recall was selection against Arsenal in friendly during August 2019.

Failing to find another club, he later based himself in Dubai but was last spotted at French side FC Istres before retiring.

Newcastle ended their post-season tour of Ireland having already played Linfield, Ballymena and Shelbourne.

They lost their 100% record at the fourth time of asking, but were hampered by an injury to goalkeeper Jack Fairbrother that forced him off the field for 20 minutes - during which time Cork scored past stand-in custodian Bobby Cowell.

Fellow Magpie Eric Garbutt then took a turn between the posts before Fairbrother was able to continue.

Cork fielded several guest players including representatives from West Ham and Everton.

After a succession of away losses at Wrexham, Sheffield Wednesday, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers had ended a late promotion push, United rounded off their season with victory at Selhurst Park to finish ninth.

Central defensive duo David Barton and Bruce Halliday made what proved to be their final first team appearances for the club.

1995 Newcastle Reserves regained the Northumberland Senior Cup at St.James' Park, beating holders Blyth Spartans 6-2.

An uninspiring draw in the penultimate game of the season saw the Gunners gain the point required to secure a Champions League place, but Newcastle were marooned in mid-table.

Beleaguered boss Bobby Robson had gone ballistic in his pre-match press call, raging at negative comments from "disloyal" fans.

He was slightly more forgiving after the game, admitting that he "never lost his spirit, but it has been a difficult season."

After a nerve-jangling finale the season ended positively with this vital away point.

United went ahead in the Anfield sunshine and held on after conceding to claim fifth place in the table and a UEFA Cup spot.

Credit is due to Reds boss Gerard Houllier - in his final game - for seemingly standing his side down in the dying moments to ensure that the game ended in a draw.

Aston Villa were Newcastle's nearest rivals for that position, but lost at home to nine-man Manchester United.

When future Mag Geremi
put through his own goal 12 minutes before the break, United's scoreless run at SJP was finally ended after 323 minutes.

Chelsea levelled within 90 seconds however, Frank Lampard netting a penalty after former Blue, Celestine Babayaro illegally impeded Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Home fans were treated to the sight of Laurent Robert in his briefs having thrown the rest of his kit into the crowd at full time - the last sighting of the Frenchman before leaving for Portsmouth.

Half-time hero was Glenn Roeder - 12 months on he was confirmed as permanent Newcastle boss but a year later had gone.

2006 Glenn Roeder was made permanent manager after three successful months as caretaker, securing 7th in the Premiership. Freddy Shepherd said of the appointment:

"In the end results are the most important thing in football and Glenn Roeder certainly did that for us. In fact managers stand and fall by results and you could say Glenn won the job.

"Glenn has done the job with dignity and decorum. He now has a two year contract and both of us are happy at that. I must say that Glenn Roeder was our captain and a great servant as a player and he has a great feel for this football club."

2007 Freddy Shepherd got his man with confirmation that Sam Allardyce would replace Glenn Roeder as Newcastle manager.

Steven Taylor's added time header gave United a deserved point in their final away game of the season - and something for the travelling fans charged £50 to celebrate.

Alan Pardew's makeshift side - with Shane Ferguson and Ryan Taylor in midfield - twice came from behind in a physical contest while Sammy Ameobi made his first team debut as a substitute.

His arrival alongside elder brother Shola meant that the Magpies fielded siblings in the same competitive game for the first time since the Robledos in 1952.

Relegated without kicking a ball in midweek, ten man United produced a performance and a scoreline that defied belief to trounce the title challengers.

Three of the goals came after Aleksandar Mitrovic's dismissal and there should have been more, Andros Townsend hitting a post and Moussa Sissoko missed two sitters.

Rafa Benitez was left in no doubt about how much fans wanted him to stay on, with his name chanted for the duration of the match and at the final whistle as he joined the players in the centre circle.

He later admitted that show of affection influenced his decision to manage in the Championship for the very first time.

Newcastle's hopes of securing a second successive season of European football receded after a narrow defeat at Old Trafford saw them drop to seventh.

Ahead at the break, Anthony Gordon soon levelled and the Magpies then missed a succession of chances while the hosts converted both of their opportunities.

Lewis Hall netted in added time as he had done in the Carabao Cup victory earlier in the season, but his side were unable to scramble in an equaliser
