Update:
Miley blow
From NUFC, Tuesday:
Lewis Miley will miss
the remaining three matches of the season after fracturing his
fibula.
The 20-year-old midfielder
sustained the injury to his lower right leg during training on
Tuesday.
He will travel to a specialist
consultant on Wednesday before continuing his rehabilitation with
the club’s medical team, and is expected to return for the start of
pre-season.
Miley has played four times since returning from a leg injury
that sidelined him for 15 games.
NSC:
Blue & white delight!

Tuesday evening saw Northern League
side Whitley Bay lift the Northumberland Senior Cup,
dramatically beating Heaton Stannington on penalties at St.James'
Park.
3,289 fans were present as Stan attempted to retain the trophy they
won in 2025, the Northern Premier League side going ahead when Alex
Payne shot home on 49 minutes.
That lead lasted just six minutes though, before former Magpie
junior Nathan Nkunku netted from close range to make it 1-1.
With no further scoring the final went straight to penalties, Bay
ultimately prevailing 6-5, goalkeeper Mauro Asikaogu saving two spot
kicks at the Gallowgate End.

Newcastle U18s 3 Leeds United U18s

Newcastle's U18 side ended
their home league programme on Tuesday with a fifth successive
victory at Little Benton, three points confirming a third place
finish in the table.
Coach Chris Moore made seven changes to the starting line-up that
had ended Manchester United's title aspirations last Saturday and
saw his side take a 24th minute lead when Alex O'Donovan
headed in a Matheos Ferreira centre.
However the blue-clad visitors soon levelled; Nguekap Njinko pulling
the ball back from the right byline for Sam Alker to beat debutant
goalkeeper Olly Holland after 27 minutes.
Newcastle regained the lead just 20 seconds into the second half
when Jack Callaghan raced forward and confidently fired in
for his maiden goal at this level.
Kavey Wooster was then twice denied by Oliver Wood in the Leeds goal
but claimed a 69th minute assist when teeing up O'Donovan to
hit a rising effort from just inside the box.
O'Donovan then made a solo run into the area seeking to round off
his hat-trick, but after tussling with a defender was unable to get
any power behind his strike.
Leeds reduced the arrears at the start of added time when substitute
Oliver Pickles finished from close range, but the Magpies retained
the lead - having left slip a two goal advantage when the sides drew
3-3 back in August.
Newcastle will round off the season at Boro on Saturday, already
assured of their best U18 league placing and points per game return
since the 2011/12 campaign.
Team: Holland, Johnson,
Gilligan, Epia, Yeutembip (Old 46), Taylor (Koussou 77), Callaghan, Ghanem, Wooster
(Hutchison 71), O'Donovan, Ferreira (Seldon 71).

A 3-1 home victory over
QPR on Saturday was enough to confirm Ipswich Town as

Update:
Loan lads
Charlie McArthur (Airdrieonians):
The central defender kept his place in the side for Tuesday's
Scottish Championship relegation playoff first leg tie, which ended
in a 0-1 loss at Alloa Athletic.
The second leg is this coming Saturday.
Antonio Cordero (Cadiz)
Delight for United's young Spaniard on Saturday, as his brace
turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 advantage for Cadiz away to basement
side Cultural Leonesa.
However his side contrived to concede an equaliser during second
half added time, denying them three precious points in their bid to
avoid relegation from La Liga 2.
Our man in the Bodega reports:
"A man of the match display from Cordero: both his goals coming
with right foot shots after cutting in from the left."
Max Thompson (Ayr United):
No farewell appearance for the goalkeeper, who remained on the bench
for Friday's season-closing Scottish Championship game, a 0-1 home
loss to title winners St.Johnstone.
Matt Targett (Middlesbrough):
Already assured of a Championship playoff place, Boro's 2-2 draw at
Wrexham on Saturday
was rendered meaningless by
victory for Ipswich Town that saw them retain the second automatic promotion
place.
Matt played the full game and added one assist.
Harrison Ashby/Joe White (Bradford City):
Having previously bagged a League One playoff place, the Bantams won
2-1 at Exeter City on Saturday - a result confirming relegation for
the Grecians.
Joe wasn't involved and Harrison stayed on the bench.
Bradford now face Bolton Wanderers in the playoffs.
Travis Hernes (Groningen):
The midfielder remained on the bench for Saturday's 2-3 home defeat
to Excelsior in the Eredivisie.
Trevan Sanusi (Lorient):
A worthy 2-2 draw away to PSG in Ligue 1 on Saturday was achieved
without the on-loan Magpie.
Odysseas Vlachodimos (Seville):
A potentially priceless clean sheet for Vlach helped Seville record
a 1-0 win at home to Real Sociedad on Monday.
That left Seville fourth bottom of La Liga - a solitary point away
from the drop zone with four games remaining.
Update:
Howay the lad

Following
his previous success with "The Boy on the Shed", former
Magpie Paul Ferris has been nominated once again for the
annual Sports Book Awards.
His memoir "Once Upon A Toon" has made the shortlist for the
Sports Entertainment Book of the Year, the winner of which will be
decided by a public vote.
Paul is up against some big hitters in the shape of Phil Tufnell and
Martin O'Neill so every vote is vital.
Votes can be placed until this Thursday May 7th

Update:
French leave

Lorient coach Olivier Pantaloni
has thrown some light on the ill-fated loan spell that Newcastle
teenager Trevan Sanusi has endured at that club in France this season:
"He arrived injured and it
dragged on. Then, we mustn't forget that he's a young player,
arriving from a foreign country, who doesn't speak the language.
"He found himself in a group that has been working together for a
long time, with playing principles and training methods that are
perhaps different from those at Newcastle. It was difficult for him.
"I think it's going to
be difficult (for him to add to his five senior appearances).
He's a kid who must have suffered from the situation. He's always
persevered.
"If Newcastle took a chance on him, it's because they saw potential
in him for the future.
"When you come from there, you want to play as much as possible. We
didn't give him the opportunity because we felt he wasn't quite
ready for Ligue 1."

Newcastle's penultimate PL away game of the season takes them to
the banks of the Trent on Sunday.
United are seeking a fifth successive PL win at the City Ground and
haven't lost a top-flight game at this venue since back in May 1987.
In PL visits only, they have won four and drawn the remaining three.
It's a 2pm
kick-off live on Sky Sports and all 3,048 away section
tickets are sold out.
Team: Lewis Miley has joined Valentino Livramento, Emil
Krafth and Fabian Schar on the sidelines.
Lewis Hall will complete a century of appearances in all
competitions for Newcastle if he features in the game.
Assuming he retains his place in the side, Sven Botman will
make his 100th league and cup start for the Magpies.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is out and there are doubts over
Murillo, Dan Ndoye, Ibrahim Sangare and Ola Aina.
Zach Abbott and Morgan Gibbs-White were both replaced during
Monday's game at Chelsea with head injuries.
Newcastle had a week to prepare for this game following
their home meeting with Brighton, while Vitor Pereira's side were
forced to played twice in four days.
The first of those came on Monday, when a 3-1 victory at Chelsea
made it seven Premier League games without defeat, further easing their
relegation fears.
The next game is on Thursday, taking a 1-0 lead to Aston Villa
in the second leg of their Europa League Semi-final.

Pre-season whispers
With plans for long haul warm-up
games abandoned, the focus turns to whereabouts in Europe Newcastle
will be preparing for next season.
After previous talk of Austria and Portugal, The Mail
report that a training camp is planned at the Spanish resort of La
Manga, with one associated friendly fixture.
The Chronicle meanwhile claim that Serie A side AS Roma have
been invited to play at Gallowgate.

list details
NUFC confirm that a season ticket waiting list will open up ahead of
next season, with a minimum of 250 available.
Entry to the waiting list is restricted to club members, who can
sign up between Mon 18.05.2026 and Sun 31.05.2026.
A ballot will then take place with entrants placed in priority
groups according to criteria set by the club. Ballot winners can
then purchase season tickets from Wed 10.06.2026.
While the purchase of a 2026/27 membership isn't required to join
the waiting list, anyone who doesn't win this ballot would need to
continue paying for membership in order to maintain their place in
the queue for future ST releases.
While the minimum figure of 250 for this year is set, there's no
mention of how many STs will be offered thereafter.

ST holders have 24
hours to apply, 24 hours to determine success, 48 hours to
buy.
Success is based on the loyalty point total calculated from applications
received. Any applications from ST holders with less points are entered into a
ballot, which will have taken place before tickets go on sale.
Regardless of the loyalty point level a game sells out at, to purchase a
ticket you must have applied in the initial 24 hour window.
The initial purchase window is divided into two sections determined by a loyalty
point division that alters for each game - those successful applicants above
that point division usually get two hours head start.
NB: emails from NUFC confirming success may arrive after the purchase
window opens - if you think you qualify due to your points total, log
on and complete your purchase.
Tickets not bought by successful applicants are then offered to unsuccessful applicants with a
reduced loyalty points total - new applications cannot be made at this time.
Only those within the new loyalty point total are
eligible to buy - even if you had more, your purchase window has already
closed.
PL away ticket prices will remain unchanged at 30 for both 2026/27 and
2027/28.

Born Or Died:
1953 Graeme Souness born, Edinburgh, Scotland. (Mgr 2004-06)

Not missed....
Having served Spurs, the smoggies,
Liverpool, Sampdoria and Rangers as a player, Souness then managed at Ibrox and
Anfield before joining Galatasaray.
A return to these shores came in 1996 with Southampton, although he just
managed just one season at the Saints before moving overseas again, with Torino
and Benfica.
March 2000 saw him take over at Blackburn Rovers, steering them back to the
Premier League and winning the League Cup.
Newcastle turned to him to fill the void left by Bobby Robson's enforced
departure in September 2004, Souness watching his former side lose 3-0 to his
future one from an Executive Box at SJP before taking over.
His first season saw Newcastle progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and
Quarter Finals of the UEFA, but defeats in both to Manchester United and
Sporting Lisbon within four days were major setbacks.
Craig Bellamy returned from his Celtic loan and was sold on to Blackburn before
the start of the next season - having fallen out with Souness over his place in
the side and other disciplinary-related transgressions.
His influence was brought to bear on other transfers, with Patrick Kluivert,
Aaron Hughes, Andy O'Brien, Laurent Robert and Jermaine Jenas also departing.
Loan deals also saw James Milner and Nicky Butt depart as Emre, Craig Moore,
Albert Luque, Michael Owen and Nobby Solano were added to January buys Amdy
Faye, Celestine Babayaro and Jean-Alain Boumsong (the latter deemed not good
enough for Newcastle by Bobby Robson months earlier).
By February 2006 though, Souness was gone - defeat at Manchester City leaving
United fifteenth with fan unrest increasing since a particularly gutless
League Cup defeat against a second-choice Wigan Athletic side.
While the fitness of Owen and Luque made his job more difficult, Souness was
ultimately betrayed by many of those who he'd brought in to the SJP dressing
room.
He became a familiar feature on our TV screens as a Sky
Sports pundit, where he remained consistently charmless when discussing the
Magpies.
Souness did show a more caring side in 2023, completing a relay swim of
the English Channel and raising over £1m for Debra UK - a charity
supporting those affected by epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
2013
Death of Steve Carney, aged 55.
Pancreatic cancer tragically claimed the defender who made his name in the
famous Blyth Spartans FA Cup side of 1978 before moving to Gallowgate.
