Elliott Dickman's young Magpies rounded off their week-long Spanish training camp with a notable friendly success against Primera Liga opposition.

Scoreless at the interval, Elche restarted the game with an entire new XI while Newcastle changed all but one of their line-up - Joe White having replaced Callum Ferguson during the first half.

The black and whites established a 50th minute lead when substitute Michael Nidweni dispossessed a dawdling opponent before drawing the goalkeeper and confidently firing home.

An offside flag then chalked off a 55th minute reply from fellow replacement Mojica, before Elche levelled with 20 minutes remaining through a glancing header by Chilean defender Enzo Roco following a Morentes corner.

The Magpies then won it in the 79th minute when Joe White ending a surging run with a low shot beyond replacement goalkeeper Axel Werner.
